Shiny and New!<< Adam, December 14th, 2004 >>

Here I am in week 3 of the new job. Enjoying myself so far – everyone here is really nice, so the whole process of being the “new guy” hasn’t been as intimidating as I was expecting. I haven’t honestly done much “work” yet, which is at the same time kind of nice and a little frustrating. I’m a little uncomfortable being paid but not contributing. I know, that makes me sound like a big loser, but its just how I am.

People seem really busy around here, so I haven’t gotten a lot of one on one tutelage. A little on my first couple of days, but after that I was left to fill out my security paperwork and now I’m just reading manuals and code snippets on my own. One can only glean so much from that, but I’ve been told that hopefully this week I should get to sit in on some sessions that will help me out a lot more.

On the website front, Kamil is all on my ass to start doing my comic strip, which I have entitled “2s Complement” which is both geeky and appropriate to the strip’s content. If you don’t know why its geeky try doing some Googling, I’m sure you can figure it out. The strips I’ve done for it already I’m honestly not terribly happy with – I was when I finished them of course, but now that I’ve had some time to look at them, there’s a lot about them that bother me. So, while Kamil helps me get the website itself together, hopefully I’ll get myself together on a look/feel to the strip that I like more. So look for all that in the near future.

 Change<< Adam, November 8th, 2004 >>

Change is in the wind. I gave my two weeks notice at my job today. Last Friday I was fortunate to recieve a much better job offer at a better company, for more money, with better benefits.

Change is always a little nerve-wracking for me. But this is exciting. My commute will no longer suck, and I’ll hopefully be less tired and worn out in general. Once I start at my new job on the 29th, I’ll find out how flexible they are with the hours which I come in and leave, since I’m happier working from 8-5 than I am working 9-6. I like getting home early and having an evening to actually you know… do things (i.e. chip away at the large stack of unfinished video games I currently have).

Hopefully this will also allow me to put some more effort back into this site, as well as the web comic I wanted to do. Abi still asks me when I’m starting it just about every time I see her.

 I am a retard<< Adam, October 12th, 2004 >>

I just felt the need to share how big of a retard I am with the rest of the world.

Ok, I cook a fair amount. I don’t cook a wide variety of things (yet), but I love spending time in the kitchen. One of the things I can now make without any cookbook help is chili. Never before have I had a problem making chili. Last night though, a lapse in judgement rewarded me with only 4 hours of sleep.

Ladies and Gentlemen, when you handle jalapeƱo peppers, for the love of god wash your hands immediately afterwards. It doesn’t matter if you don’t feel any burning sensation. By the time you do feel burning, you’re screwed, and will be lucky if it fades 8 hours later. And for the record – nothing you can find on the internet will really help, the best I could manage was keeping a cold wet towel on my hands to dull the pain.

Anyway, I suck because I wasn’t smart enough to remember to wash my hands, and I suck because I haven’t touched my website in f’n forever. I’m going to try to start doodling soon, and depending on a few things coming up, I might have more time to actually devote to the endeavour.

As usual, the offer still stands for anyone who wants to contribute their own artwork/blogging to the site.

 Yes, I do exist.<< Adam, May 10th, 2004 >>

Hey everyone, yes, I do exist. I’ve just been missing and unmotivated because I got a job which has sucked the life out of me. Being unemployed for 4 months, I had to jump at the first offer I got, and it turned out to not be a very good offer. Long hours, for not very good pay, and pretty crappy benefits. Plus, I’m working on a web-based application, which gives me no motivation to touch the web on my own free time.

Kind of bad timing too, since I had just started really getting a web design down for the little Webcomic I’ve toyed with doing.

What am I doing in my spare time? Well, playing City of Heroes, for one. If you play MMORPGs, you might want to check this one out, particularly if you’ve got a soft spot for the super hero genre.

More soon, I hope.
